One year anniversary!

It’s been one year since I started this blog!  It’s been an incredible journey. It’s much harder than I anticipated to find the time to write. When I write, I want it to be worth your time to read it, and worth my time to write. Often I jot down a thought that I want to expand on.  I usually have 6-7 of those saved in drafts just waiting for me to get some time to work on them.  I am not good at consistently writing once a week and definitely not once a day.

So what has happened in these past 12 months? As you might know, I have 6 children, though 2 are now at college at Utah State University in Logan, Utah. Our oldest returned in April from serving a full-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Omaha, Nebraska.  I own a small business in Orem, Utah, which I am now running remotely from Port Angeles, WA. I was the first counselor in a bishopric when I started the blog. After our release, I was called as the ward mission leader.  We moved our company to a new location and we moved our family from Highland, Utah to Port Angeles, Washington. We’ve been getting our home in Highland ready to sell, then putting it on the market and selling it. Now that we’ve moved to a new ward in Port Angeles, WA, I’ve been called to serve as first counselor in the young men’s organization, and to be the scout master. We are still in the final stages of selling our Utah home and purchasing a home here in Washington. So, over the past 12 months, I have had a lot on my plate.

However, I’ve felt compelled to start this blog to reach a wider audience than just my posts on Facebook and share my faith in our Savior Jesus Christ and to brighten your day. I had no idea how wide the reach would be. We have readers from all over the world. It makes me really want to provide good content on the blog posts I write.  Some of the areas I am familiar with. Many I am not.

Thank you for your support. Thank you for sharing my blog. Thank you for your feedback, unless it was rude, then well, no thanks to you. haha. But really, I do appreciate the positive feedback from people all over the world with different faiths and backgrounds. As I stated in the first blog post one year ago, I was inspired by my friend Shawn Rapier’s podcast “Latter-day Lives” which just passed its one-year mark. He is doing a lot of good by just interviewing wonderful people who all seem to have something interesting and uplifting to share.  I hope my blog has been uplifting and has spread a little sunshine in your life.

Jason Bringhurst lives in Port Angeles, Washington, USA. I am the father of 6 children, husband of the lovely and talented Jen Bringhurst, a small business owner, a listener of 80's new-wave music, an enthusiast of hot-rod & classic cars, a lover of pizza & Diet Coke, and a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This blog in no way is meant to officially represent The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, nor is it meant to be officially related to my current ward or calling in Port Angeles, nor my former wards or callings in Highland and Springville, Utah. Rockymountainsunshine.com is simply a way for me to spread sunshine and share my faith.
