Testimonies of the Book of Mormon – Chantel

My series of testimonies of the Book of Mormon continues with another testimony of a family member. As I had said in the previous blog post, some of my family members had written down their testimonies of the Book of Mormon while I was a missionary in France. These testimonies were given to me, I then translated them into French and hand-wrote them in the front of a copy of the Book of Mormon (Le Livre de Mormon), which I then would give out to someone I contacted. I wish I had all of the ones that I had been given. They have been lost some how. But I will share the ones I still have.

Continuing with these testimonies, today I share the testimony of my cousin Chantel (Bills) Allen.

I know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the only true church on the earth today. I know that Joseph Smith is a true prophet of God and that he translated by God’s power the Book of Mormon. I know that the Book of Mormon contains the word of God and that the answers to many of our problems can be found in the teachings in this book. I know that God listens and responds to our prayers. You can also know these things for yourself if you take the time and have faith to ask God.  I testify to you of these things in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

I had written on the paper that I gave this copy of the Book of Mormon to a 21 year old man who was a student while street contacting.

Many question the need for The Book of Mormon in Christianity. I think that the need for the Book of Mormon is clear when there are many who question whether Jesus Christ even existed, or if He was just a great teacher, not actually the Son of God. There are those who do not believe in His resurrection, and His atonement for our sins. The Book of Mormon answers those questions, because not only did those people in the Bible see with their eyes the resurrected Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, but after His resurrection, He came to the people of the Book of Mormon, and showed Himself unto them. He taught them about the sacrament, about baptism, and about praying to our Father in Heaven. He spoke in the Bible of having other sheep who were not of the fold in Jerusalem. (John 10:16) He was speaking about others who would hear his voice, like these people in the Americas; The people of the Book of Mormon. So the Book of Mormon witnesses that what the Bible is saying, is true.

Many of the people whom we would contact as a missionary would not see us again because they lived in another town or country, and back then, you didn’t have all the ways you do today to contact someone. But we would always pray that they would read the Book of Mormon and that they would have the faith to pray about it, so that they could know if it was of God. It is my hope that some of them did this and found the truth and joy that comes from the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. If this book helped any of them come closer to God and to know Jesus Christ a little better, my time was well spent.
