Response to the blue-haired, nose-piercings, Agnostic.

(My response to someone self-described as “blue hair, asymmetrical nose piercings, gay, and identifies as Agnostic”) I like your writing style. I hope that you really don’t think that all “Mormons” are bad. Just like any group of people, you’ll get all kinds. I think that even though I’m a faithful church-going, (well, at leastContinue reading “Response to the blue-haired, nose-piercings, Agnostic.”

Cautiously grateful

I wanted to share something my wife, Jen, wrote yesterday about our experience Sunday. I’m grateful for this miracle, and cautious because I know hydrocephalus can turn on a dime and we can find ourselves in the emergency room again. From Jen’s Facebook post: If you’re tired of all the negativity in the world rightContinue reading “Cautiously grateful”

What does it mean to “bear your testimony”?

Someone asked this question yesterday, “What does it mean to bear your testimony?” I’m guessing they are not of my faith. I’ll call him Jim. Here is my reply. That is a good question Jim. As an active, practicing member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I would say that it meansContinue reading “What does it mean to “bear your testimony”?”

Joseph Smith’s First Vision

This video took way longer than it should have. Back in the October 2014 General Conference, Elder Neil L. Andersen of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, invited everyone to consider recording Joseph Smith’s account of the First Vision in our own words. I tried doing an audio recording of everyone reading it during aContinue reading “Joseph Smith’s First Vision”

Je Suis Enfant De Dieu

Newly released song where I sing in French, the primary song I Am A Child Of God. I think that I will make a video of this in the future. Je Suis Enfant De Dieu

Tracting in La Rochelle France

As I look through my pictures from my mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in France, each picture seems to have a story. I served from May 1991 to May 1993. I had so many amazing experiences. Sometimes you don’t realize that something significant is happening when you are right inContinue reading “Tracting in La Rochelle France”

Sin, forgiveness and the Atonement

I think that growing up I understood what sin was. I learned about the commandments and I understood when I chose not to follow them, that it was a sin. However, even though I had heard the word “Atonement”, I didn’t really understand what it meant and how it related to my sins and to forgiveness.Continue reading “Sin, forgiveness and the Atonement”

Why missionaries?

I remember speaking to someone who asked me, “Why are you serving a mission for your church in a country where we already believe in Jesus Christ? Why don’t you go to a country where they have not heard of the Gospel, instead of preaching in the predominately Catholic country of France?” It’s a fair question.

BBQ blowing up in my face

A couple years ago, I was trying to light our propane BBQ and kept clicking on the ignite button. It wasn’t working, so I turned off the gas and went to find a lighter. I came back with one of those long lighters, turned back on the gas, and started clicking the lighter.  BOOM! It ignited and apparently there were gas fumes all over
